UFC 98 brought out the fighter many wondered if Machida could be – fast, dominating, and destructive.  I still haven’t heard any post-fight comments from Rashad.  He must be licking his physical and mental wounds, and wondering what the hell happened.

This superfight between Lyoto and Anderson, as an idea, is much better than the actual match would be most likely.  Much like a dog chasing a car or teenager’s sex fantasy, you will be let down.  But Machida and Anderson are each going to be consistently argued as the Pound-For-Pound best fighters which, just like Highlander, there can be only one.  

Anderson is bored at 185 and he destroyed James Irvin at 205 by doing something you only see in the movies – grabbing your opponent’s leg when they kick and knocking them out with one punch!  If Anderson can make mince meat out of Forrest, and as much as I love watching the guy fight, I think Silva will. then I think you do the Superfight in February.

Forrest vs Silva in August, Lyoto vs Rampage soon thereafter, and if everything goes well, then Lyoto vs Silva.  This takes care of Silva’s published boredom, gives Lyoto a fantastic challenge, and the viewers a can’t miss Pay-Per-View.  Come on UFC, give this to us!

I don’t do drugs and even I think that marijuana should be legalized. Seth’s monolgue puts it into perspective. Even the Chosen One, Obama, admitted to cocaine use which is much worse.

Kellogs missed an opportunity that Subway took full advantage of this weekend. Instead of looking like the holier-than-thou Aunt like Kelloggs now, Subway looks likes like the cool uncle who tries to embellish your fishing abilities in front of your friends.

Kellogs comes out the loser in this one.

I guess Phil Jackson has been harping on Bynum long enough. First he took out Oden at the start of the season. Watch as he pulls Oden.

Now he has taken out Gerald Wallace. See the play that resulted in a broken rib and a punctured lung.

Many are saying that he didn’t want to hurt Wallace but you watch the play and see if he was going for the basketball. I am sure he didn’t intend to puncture his lung but drunk drivers don’t intend to hit people either but it was their choice.

Bynum just recently gathered his game from the gutter and has been putting up impressive numbers. I hope he gets fined. Those are hard lazy fouls which is what Phil Jackson has been calling him, lazy.

I knew it was difficult but this was even harder than I imagined. I think this does make football more interesting just like the lipstick cameras in poker.

Mr. Steve Nash reminded me why I drafted him.  57% shooting, 15 assists, 8 rebounds, 100% FT’s and 7 turnovers, but that comes with the territory.

The Blazers looked unstoppable as they crushed the Chicago Bulls who were on a back-to-back and playing like it was the fourth game in a row.  Abysmal shooting and horrendous turnovers.  Noah over and over made the silliest fouls and then whined about it.  If you whine everytime you just annoy the refs more.  Pick and choose your battles though honestly you look to be a bust in the NBA.

My own fantasy team was decimated as Tim Duncan had an off night and a few others just didn’t play up to their level.  Was it too much to ask that Lebron score 41 again?

Is it too much for Kidd to score at least 10 pts, at least?  SportsCenter teased with Kidd hitting a 3pt. That is all that they could pull out for a highlight.

No one else jumped out on my radar even though injuries are running rampant and there should be some breakouts. So far the sleepers people talk about aren’t hitting it.  Still wondering if Anthony Morrow can keep it up.  Part of his success is that no one knows who he is.  That is no longer the case and if he still can shoot lights out he will be the next Ray Allen, who doesn’t do much more than score.

Tomorrow is a light day and I only have Nash playing.  I need like 60 pts and 22 assists to get back to being comfortable again, and we know that won’t happen.

If you weren’t already stoked for the is fight between Couture and Lesnar, this will get you going.

I doubted Randy when he fought Tim but Tim is a goof, even Matt Hughes who trains with him said that. I like Randy but I don’t see him beating Lesnar unless he gets a “lucky” lock, like Mir got on Lesnar. This fight is bigger for Randy than the Fedor fight.

And to those who compare Lesnar to Sapp, it doesn’t stick. Those two aren’t in the same galaxy when it comes to athleticism. Lesnar is faster and bigger than anyone he has fought. Lesnar will own Randy and it is unfortunate that he will be beat in Lesnar’s third appearance. And until Lesnar fights someone with a name, and there are few, Randy will have been beaten by the newbie who beat Mir. And Mir has no business fighting for the chance to fight the winner of Saturday’s fight.

Mir was overwhelmed, just like Herring, by Lesnar. Unless something freaky happens, Lesnar is the champion for the forseeable future. The idea of martial arts is to give the smaller guy, the weaker guy a chance to beat the odds. This is a case where the big guy has enough skills, speed and strength that it will likely overwhelm the better skills of Couture.

I am no fan of Lesnar and ripped him for his inability to do a simple finishing move on Herring. Tons of openings that any new jitsu practitioner would know. This will leave him vulnerable to something by Couture but I don’t know if Couture would actually get the hold.

If I am wrong I will admit it Sunday but I am not. And Lesnar does have a dick tattooed on his chest. This is why you need good friends.

Elite XC has folded. I was underwhelmed by the fights that I saw though I did make it a point to find the Kimbo fights online. So far Dana White’s prediction is holding true that you can’t just go out and start an MMA organization without losing money.

If it wasn’t for the TV show The Ultimate Fighter, who knows where the UFC would be. As it is, they are the major organization. There is very little brand recognition between the others. Fedor, whose name I only know because of Randy’s retirement, is all over the place making almost deals with different companies but fighting no one. Tim Sylvia is no one.

The person I feel bad for in all of this is Gina Carano as well as other good women fighters. She has/had the chance to be a star but with Elite XC gone there doesn’t seem to be a big promoter who likes women fighting. The UFC has no intentions of women fighters and they have plenty of men to fill cards. They have lost a venue just because of their gender. Sucks for them.

So now Affliction will have to really weigh their decision to continue. Will their investors yank money when they see what happened to Elite XC or will they see this as an opening with CBS? Dana said he would be shocked if Affliction was still around by the new year and Affliction has already pulled an event from their November schedule.

My two cents? I don’t think it can be done. At least not as fast as these companies want it. UFC took years to build and then clicked with The Ultimate Fighter show. I don’t think they could have done it with just the show alone. So Dana White was probably right, again, that they won’t be able to start it up just like someone couldn’t start up a NASCAR rival.

There will be other off shoot events and organizations but this will be one of the few times there aren’t two top competing organizations or brands.
